WAGS - Water & Gas Safety Shut-off Valve for hot water heaters
Authorized Platinum Installer

Over 5 million hot water tanks fail every year. Without a WAGS valve, a leaking tank keeps refilling- and continues leaking and causing more and more damage to your home.  One in three people have experienced a water heater failure and the resultant structural damage to their house. If you haven't experienced the disaster of a water tank leak yourself, it's very likely that you know someone who has a horror story about a hot water heater that leaked and did lots of damage.

Schwartz Plumbing has a solution!  We are an authorized "Platinum Installer" of the WAGS(r) Water & Gas Safety Shutoff Valve for hot water heaters.  WAGS stands for Water And Gas Safety valve. The WAGS valve is designed to shut off the water supply plus gas supply for gas-fired heaters if water leaks from your hot water heater.  We can install the WAGS safety shut-off valve on any water heater.  (Schwartz Plumbing also offers another solution with our Tankless Water Heater.)

How does the WAGS valve work?  It's actually very simple.  When your hot water heater tank leaks and fills the drip pan to a depth of 3/4", a water-soluble fiber element in the WAGS dissolves, releasing a powerful spring-loaded piston that closes the flow of water to the tank. In gas-fired water heaters, this action also breaks a fuse that shuts off the gas supply to the heater.  The result is disaster averted!
